How long should I wait to cancel the Cap One?

Excellent! I'm very happy for you once again and I think the perks of the cards you're getting are what's the most important thing right now. Maybe you can try Barclays in a couple of months if you want, especially for something like the Sallie Mae MC or one of their Arrival cards.

I think honestly your biggest challenge now is meeting the minimum spend on these cards to get the signup bonus. Although fortunately it's the easiest time of the year to meet those amounts since we all tend to spend more money around this time anyway.

As for the secured card, when is your AF due? If it's not due anytime soon probably best to just keep it until that time comes unless you need the deposit back sooner. Can't hurt anything.

Also I don't think the lack of a MasterCard is really an issue at all. Only place I've really been to that accepts mastercard and not Visa is Sam's club. So unless this is a problem for you I wouldn't stress it.

You're very welcome. Anytime. When I was starting out building my credit, I literally knew nothing until I started reading credit card forums like this and also learning a lot from experience, which I did make my fair share of mistakes. I'm just glad I'm able to really help someone out like you and helping you get on the right foot.

Funny enough, I was thinking the same thing about the signup bonus this morning. Don't want to buy stuff just for the sake of buying. At this point I'm just happy to be getting approved.
I'm going to call Cap One today and get that info.

You and this site have definitely helped me. I have a totally different mindset now. No more being an outlier. Its such a positive feeling when you have control. Quick story: Years ago I told myself that I would not buy a wallet until I had a good score and credit cards to put in a wallet. Bought myself a nice wallet Saturday night. Mission complete.

That's great. A lot of my mindset on credit came from seeing everyone else in my family not have good credit and ruining it basically, especially with my parents. My sister is doing okay with her credit but had some trouble with auto loans in the past so I don't know the full details about that but yeah. She has an $800 Care Credit card, a Wells Fargo card, and a CapOne Quicksilver One card for $300 or $500 I believe. She was shocked at what my CLs were on the cards that I have and was quite impressed.

I'm thinking about buying a new wallet myself. Both of the ones I've had are from Wal-Mart.

P51 you applied for those cards just within days of each other?
I have a Chase Freedom and a Discover IT. I applied for one of the Citi cards and did not get instant approval. I did call their back door number but still didn't get a answer.
After talking to a friend I wish I'd applied to Capital One but a little afraid to now.

Yes, applied within a period of about 3 days--Amex on Wed/Thurs, B of A & Chase Freedom on Sunday. I didn't get instant approval for B of A and Chase, they took a couple days before I was approved.
