How do balance transfers work?

Postby Noodlehead » Wed Nov 05, 2014 1:53 pm

Hi,

I have got a Barclaycard with £990 on it.
I applied for a Capital One balance transfer earlier on and they said i was accepted.
How does it work?
How long does it take to transfer the balance?
Do I have to wait till I receive the card?

Many thanks

Assuming it's like the USA:

Capital One will cut a check to Barclay in a day or two for the amount owed.

That will appear on your first bill from Capital One.

It'll likely happen before you get your credit card in the mail.

Yep! Paid our last Barclaycard bill this way. Love CapOne free BT's!
