It really is a stretch to apply the word 'dream' to saving $1.35 on a $27 grocery purchase...'useful' would be more fitting.

Congrats on the useful card, though!
Love: IHG, Platinum, Sallie Mae, AA Plat, CSP
Like: Discover, ED, BCE, Hyatt, Arrival, Freedom
Might drop: BrooksBros, Prestige (Costco PC?)
Might add: Proper business card, CSR, Ritz, Delta Gold
Letting new accounts cool off since May
Really not sure what I'll add next or when

Dream because my TU at time of app was 686....and just 8 months earlier was 90pts lower.

Also, I had 6 new accounts in the last 2 months prior to. So as far as Barclay's U/W is concerned, This could in fact be a dream!

Oh, okay...so if you're rebuilding from a FICO below 600, that makes sense. Sallie Mae is, to the best of my knowledge, the most difficult Barclaycard to obtain.

I can't say I'm surprised that it would take a great deal of recon effort. I have never done a 'true' recon call. Perhaps I should have tried to recon Sallie Mae to get a World MC with a slightly better limit. A $4500 Platinum at least appeared rather close to a $5k+ World card when I had a not-yet-reporting $6k BCE.

It would appear so!

For some reason, Barclays loves me... I've never gotten anything but an instant approval from them, starting with a $1500 Barclay Rewards a year ago. Since then, I've gotten nothing but love and today got a letter saying they were converting my Arrival to a WEMC. I'm not Bears and Turtles or Fix My Credit but I do have a pretty steady stream of INQ, so I don't think the Barclays aversion to new credit has affected me. As for the Sallie Mae, you would think it would be an easier card to get... it may not be restricted to students, but you would think that's their intended market.
In my Wallet:
  • Amex PRG NPSL[3-14, bd 91]
  • Sallie Mae MC $8000[1-14]
  • Chase Freedom $4700[1-14]
  • Discover It $2750[8-13]
  • BoA UCF Alumni Cash Rewards $5000 [3-15]
Sometimes in my Wallet:
  • GM BuyPower WEMC $5000[9-14]
  • Wells Fargo Propel 365 Amex $7000[4-14]
  • Barclaycard Arrival WEMC $7000[3-14]
  • BoA Better Balance $3000[2-15]
In my sockdrawer: Amex BCE $1000[10-13, bd 91], OCCU Duck $10000 [11-13], The Sportsman's Guide Visa $8000[8-14], Chase Slate $4000 [9-14]Delta Gold Amex $2000 [2-15 bd 91], Diners Club MC $20000 [10-14] Commerce Bank Visa $2000 [3-15] Citi Double Cash $1000 [3-15]
Total CL: $90450

So a no-AF, 2.2% travel and dining, 1.1% everything else, Chip+PIN, WEMC? I had heard some mentions of that before but wasn't sure exactly what was involved.

That does sound pretty tempting. I think I'd still get the Arrival+ for a trial year and the bonus, but it makes the regular Arrival a good long-term option. Even if I got a CSP, it would be great for when Chip+PIN was easier.

Yeah I tried recon two times on the Sallie Mae and still understandably got denied both times. I just really gotta let a lot my stuff age more than it has basically. At least I'm in with Barclays at all.
Macy's TLs (21k), Lowes (17k), CSP (10k), Sam's Club (10k), Nordstrom (5k), AARP (4.2k), Freedom (3k), Discover (1.5k), Quicksilver (2k), BoA (3k), Barclaycard Arrival (2.5k), Amazon Store (6k), Paypal (4.9k), Sam's Club MC (3.6k), Walmart MC (1.2k)

Anyone PC to Arrival from Rewards card? Or any one of their other lower cards for that matter. I have Apple Visa and Rewards, both of which are useless to me so I just put small bills on them to stay active until I can PC to Arrival and eventually Arrival+.

I'm sorry, should have made it clearer... I have always had the Arrival+ (which was originally called the Arrival, the other was called the no-annual fee arrival). When they moved to chip, they changed the name and also made some users WEMC (but not me). So I just got my Arrival+ upgraded to WEMC.

Oh. That's much less appealing.

Hopefully my initial interpretation is what the no-AF WMC Arrival will look like in a few years, though.
