Product change info

Postby DeeJay8385 » Wed Oct 15, 2014 6:30 pm

I recently received a preselect offer from Citibank for their TY preferred card. I wanted to apply for this card last year but I took the offer for the Diamond Preferred. My question to you all is it possible to do a product change from my Diamond Preferred to the Thank You Preferred? I'm not gaining anything from my Diamond Preferred and the TY Preferred, I'll benefit from it. My last HP was in January 2014 when I applied for the Barclay arrival card and currently, I have 5 credit inquires and I wonder if I do a PC, will another inqury be placed on my CR? If that's possible, will they be able to backdate my TY preferred card(if i get approved) like AMEX does with its customers? Thanks in advance

There are reports of successful conversions from Diamond Preferred -> Thankyou Preferred, which did take several weeks to complete.

However, this can be YMMV, so you may have to call in/send secured message to figure this out. You may have a chance, but may also end up not being able to change.

No, as it's just a product change.

Citi has PCed a Diamond Preferred to a TYP in the past. Only way to know if they'll do it for you is to call and ask. Citi usually does not pull credit for a product change, but anything is possible. If they allow a product change, you will keep all of your history on the account, equivalent to backdating. If you apply for the TYP and close the Diamond preferred, Citi will not backdate the new account.
