Chase 2x HP, but only one HP on AA letter?

Postby CarefulBuilder14 » Wed Oct 01, 2014 10:05 pm

In July I requested a CLI on my Freedom to take it from $600 to $3k. Chase partially granted the request and gave me a $2k limit.

Because it was only a partial increase, it was technically an Adverse Action.

Chase pulled TU and EX. I learned this from CK and CS alerts, and have since verified this by reading my full TU and EX reports.

When I got my AA letter, Chase only mentioned a TU pull and gave my TU FICO. The letter made no reference to the fact that there was a EX pull.

It's not really a problem, as my BCE app gave me another free EX report shortly thereafter. (Amex's AA was giving a high APR after the intro period.)

But is this practice of doing two pulls but only mentioning one routine? Or a rare event?

When I applied the first time and denied (that application went to pending before submitting another at a bank and got approved), the letter said they referred to TU, but actually pulled TU and EX.

I have no idea whether or not they are required to list EX in this case. I guess they could simply explain something like they pulled EX but did not refer to the data from EX.

I was hoping to get EX report due to Chase pull, but since they did not mention that, I didn't request report from EX.

Every Chase card I've recently applied for was 2 HPs, as was the CLI I requested. It seems to be from my experience and what I've read SOP for them now.

Some of them for me tend to pull exclusively from EQ like the SW card. Freedom when I tried for it foolishly a long while ago was two HPs from EX and EQ.

I think the answer to your question is that they don't have to provide info from each bureau they pulled after adverse action. They only have to provide one of them. So, two pulls, one mention is routine and entirely within the law, as I understand it.

I haven't pulled my complete EQ report since before getting a PRG in May, so I could have anywhere from 2 to 6 HPs on there. Quizzle has trouble 'verifying my identity' so I can't check there. It is a bit frustrating.

TU info can be summarized with CK. EX can be summarized with CS and Credit.com. Are there any sites other than Quizzle for EQ?

I suppose I could do a week-long or 30-day trial on one site or another.

If you already have Scorewatch on FICO, you can pay discount price to pull your EQ report there at around 13 bucks.

But there's nothing free that updates weekly, or even monthly or bi-monthly?

I could try closing my Quizzle registration and opening a new one.

The closest thing to that I can think of is actually ScoreWatch though it won't give you new reports each day. You can see when new inquiries, accounts and stuff like that change or when your score increases or decreases. I'd see if opening a new Quizzle account works or not.

Did you try signing up for Amex CreditSecure? For like 25 bucks a month, you can pull all three reports each day. With USAA, you might be able to get a discount on that for six months as they also offer a service where you can pull EQ and the other two bureaus each day for no additional cost.
