I believe so. Over at CreditBoards in one of the threads, I said something about FMC and how he doesn't post in this forum and what do ya know, he's suddenly here now too.

Joining the garden club probably isn't an option I'm guessing.

Thanks for encouraging him (indirectly I suppose) to join, he's good for a few laughs- if only B & T, creditaddict, and pizza1 would join...

Didn't even think he still read Credit Boards at all or had any idea he had an account there when I said that. Had I known that in advance, I wouldn't have brought him up. It was basically because he mentioned something that's forbidden over at MyFico that's not a problem to talk about over at CB and that was the context of me bringing him up there. Didn't even mention his full name but gave a hint that he had the year 1992 in his name and someone basically said you don't say and an admin gave a link to one of his topics there. I was honestly shocked.

I'm starting to think that anyone who claims to have a FICO below 475 and hasn't had a medical catastrophe should have to have some part of his or her credit report independently audited to be taken seriously as a genuine nut on here.

So what are some examples of the 'bad' advice so many people have been giving you? What are you expecting to hear, perhaps, as 'good' advice?

Examples:
Q: I have a 750 score and a Crap One card with a 500 limit that will never grow and a 39 annual fee with no rewards. Perfect payment history and no inquiries. Should I apply for a prime card?
A: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO don't do that you'll get an inquiry andt hat's a bigger crime to humanity than the Holocaust!!! Just garden don't ruin your perfect track record!

Q: I applied anyway and got approved for a Chase CSP card for 15k. Should I close the Crap One now that I don't need it?
A: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO NEVER EVER EVER for ANY reason EVER close a credit card you'll destroy your credit, doom the entire planet and be labelled a terrorist.

Q: I closed the Crap One anyway, but now I'd like to diversify and get an Amex so I have another card, to take advantage of their perks and establish my MS date. Should I apply?
A: How could you even think about it? 2 new accounts in the last several years? That will send up MASSIVE red flags to your current creditors who will CLD you or even close you down. In fact even one new account could be considered a big red flag you should pray they don't close your account!!!!

You get the idea. And they answer questions when they have no clue what the answer is but try to come across like they do know and give wrong information. I've seen that numerous times. The mods and the community leaders and some of the big posters there really know their stuff, but some of the others have no clue what the hell they are talking about but sound off like they are experts anyway, just making fools of themselves.

While those are accurate examples of what is bad advice for most people with decent credit, and those claims certainly circulate on myfico without much thought, they don't sound like something fmc92 actually tried to follow.

If anything, fmc92 (with a secured Discover, some sort of Barclaycard, and maybe 50-100 inquiries in the last 2 years) needs to garden more urgently than 95%+ (or even 99%+?) of the population, so the typical gardening mantra would be appropriate.

I was expecting to hear, if I heard anything, some horrible advice more along the lines of:

If Amex turns you down for a Gold card, apply next month for a Platinum. Then a Green the month after that. App once a month for the Green until you get it. Amex likes to know you're really interested in them, even if you have bad credit. Don't worry about looking desperate.

Or

The FICO formula doesn't penalize you if you app for many cards at once. If you app for three cards in one day from different issuers, it only counts as one inquiry.

Or maybe

FICO doesn't count store cards not using a major payment network when determining your AAoA or number of inquiries.
