Another BoA Auto CLI!

Postby onion » Mon Sep 01, 2014 10:43 am

Woohoo! I went on CreditKarma today to check out my report and see if my Platinum and Discover are reporting yet (they're not) and just clicked on my other cards to see how they were doing. Got to the BoA card and saw a $2,400 limit! I thought it wasn't possible so I logged on to online banking, and it was true! I got my third auto-CLI on a secured card! I went from $500 to $700 to $900 and now a huge step to $2,400! I can't wait for it to unsecure so I can get my $500 back and another huge increase! Only like 2 more weeks to wait. :D

Edit: Just called BoA, I got unsecured early! :D However, those fools are sending my $500 to an account that isn't mine... They gave me the last 4 of it and it doesn't match any of mine. Now I have to wait until tomorrow to contact their secured credit card department and hope I get my money back because they sent it 4 days ago. Lovely.

Wow that's great! I really underestimated the secured BOA card back in December when I (foolishly and ignorantly, before I had found either this site or MyFico) tried getting the BOA Student Cash Rewards card and got the offer for the secured card instead. Can't remember the exact details but it's amazing how generous they seem to be with this card in particular. Had I known that, I would have happily just gotten this one instead of the WF college card.

At that time, I had no idea what I was getting myself into and it was pure luck I ended up with a great card and not some Crapital One card. The gas rewards are great, and the grocery rewards weren't bad either when I used it for that (had only one card for the first 6 months I had credit). I could have probably ended up with something unsecured, but since the rewards were so good, I don't mind. A nice bonus was getting an extra 10% back on gas when redeeming to a BoA checking account.

That's even better than I thought, especially for a secured card. The only thing of interest my Forward card has that I like is that for a couple of billing cycles, they reduce my interest rate by .25% just for paying on time and staying under my credit limit.

On CapOne, I feel fortunate that I didn't end up getting one of their cards with the annual fee and I can certainly see why a lot of people look down on them.

Do you carry a balance? I treat my credit cards like debit cards so I don't really care about APR. I don't even know what my rates are other than my Arrival+ that has like 17% or something.

Right now there is a balance but I stopped using it regularly especially since I've shifted my spending to other cards and have focused on paying it down, doing more than minimum payment and all that stuff. There was one time I had to pay textbooks with it to some bookstore I rented some from back in December and also when it was my only card so for a while, the balance was even higher but it was during that 6 month 0% APR offer they had. I'll just say the balance right now is under 30%.
