I've had more than one merchant make a positive comment on the look of my Chase Freedom and my BCP, though the latter gets to looking crummy pretty quick running it through card swipes.

I recently had CapOne upgrade my old Platinum card to a Quicksilver. The QS doesn't have embossed numbers. Everything on the front is just printed on the lower, left-hand corner of the card. I've have more than one merchant give the card a look like "is this really a valid credit card?" before swiping it.
AmEx - Platinum (NPSL) , Blue Cash Preferred ($19,000), Gold Delta Skymiles ($8,500)
Chase - Sapphire Preferred ($14,000), Disney ($11,500), Amazon.com ($9,000), Freedom ($8,000)
CapOne - QuickSilver ($7,250) / Platinum Rewards ($7,250)

I took a Taxi once from PHX, AZ. (F'n $70)
I used a Google Wallet card to pay ... because it was a Square payment in a Taxi.
The driver was like, what is this, we don't take this.

Which is absolutely stupid because it's a plan old MasterCard debit card. I got a bunch of funny looks with my Google card, but I stopped using it because I got into credit cards and the rewards are awesome.

Out of curiosity, I just ordered that Google Wallet card to see how it would work and to also see if I can make more room in my wallet. Didn't cost me a dime at all unlike with Coin which I'm probably not going to bother with.

You basically just load it from a bank account and use it like a debit card. Only thing that's nice is that you can load it from multiple accounts at once right from your phone so you don't need to carry around a bunch of debit cards. I'd never use it again because credit card rewards are awesome. Also, all the purchase protection stuff, etc is a great bonus.

In that case, it still might be useful for me since I have multiple debit cards with different banks but will probably still carry my credit cards around.

I actually have used the online version of Google Wallet a few times when I wanted to buy something on YouTube or from their app store.

Ritz Carlton is really good looking, definitely on my radar. With the free night on approval and $300 airline credit then the annual fee doesn't look so big, at least to me.

Applying for a new card would have backdating which might help for FICO scoring purposes, and would show an old opening date, but only have payment data for the months it was actually open (and used).
