September 2014 Garden Cult thread - free Kool-Aid!

Postby MemberSince99 » Sun Aug 31, 2014 6:31 am

And now for our September cult meeting. Robes and chanting are optional and the Kool-Aid is free and all you can drink.

Gardening is the act of not applying for any new credit which is the BEST thing you can do for your life period. There is simply nothing that can compare with not getting credit of any sort - quitting smoking that's for sissies, losing weight that's a chick thing, saving a life hey that's NOTHING compared to not applying for a new credit card. If more people applied for less credit, we'd solve all the problems in the world, war and hunger would end everyone would be employed, the world would be such a better place.

In that spirit, I have no inquiries whatsoever planned. I am supposed to close on a mortgage this Friday, which will be my personal contribution to blowing up the national debt, but the alternative is to pay a landlord's mortgage and have all the drawbacks of a mortgage along with all the drawbacks of living at home in the parent's basement, so that is a far worse choice.

Otherwise I will continue saving the world by not applying for or seeking any new credit, which is a greater crime against all humanity than the Holocaust and should be considered an act of terrorism. Soon I will be so proud as my seedling grows into a bronze spade, that will make me MUCH more proud than owning my own property.

It's not September yet... aren't you jumping the gun a little bit, Member?

Unless, of course, we're one of those cults which uses our own calender. I'm a little bit behind on my Garden Sacred Scripture reading since I've been in solitary confinement for apping. I have made it to I Lexie Chapter 09 in the Good Gardening Book, though.

I guess we can start early then. Haha.

Not apping for anything in September but I'm going to try as hard as I can to get to Citi and having my Forward card changed to a Double Cash card and maybe, just maybe getting them to reduce the APR on my card. I swear they have become my least favorite out of all the prime lenders I've done business with so far.

Don't forget... you can always drapp for the double cash and stay in the garden, officially. It doesn't even count against your FICO score! It's sort of like when you are getting a mortgage or car loan... all those inquiries count as one! So when you go on a drunken app spree... it counts as zero apps when figuring your FICO score. For maximum effect, try applying for a car loan and mortgage while drunk and you're score will actually go up (make sure you have a designated driver to test drive the car for you!)

Though it's not officially September in the States, I think some eastern part of the world is already in September. Are you on a trip, Member?

Anyways here I need some advices. I have recently moved my home, changed billing addresses on ALL of my cards but not yet seen any credit monitoring service showing a single address change. Should I drapp right now? I am eager to get hit with all that multiple-as-one inquiries!
Citi Forward Visa $5000 10/2012 | American Express Blue Cash Everyday $8000 2/2014 | Discover it $7000 5/2014
Chase Freedom Visa Signature $7000 6/2014 | Citi ThankYou Premier Visa Signature $5000 1/2015
All EMV.

That's actually how I even found out about this card in the first place and boy, people are getting some really lousy APRs trying to app for this though there are some exceptions here and there.

Here's something I've been wondering about though. Who came up with this gardening idea in the first place and how did it become so popular over at MyFico?

For now I only see racked up APRs from Citi. My Forward has the lowest interest rate, but when they send Diamond Preferred mail offers I saw a 19.99%, and when pre-qualifying online I get 22.99% for almost everything.
Citi Forward Visa $5000 10/2012 | American Express Blue Cash Everyday $8000 2/2014 | Discover it $7000 5/2014

*Downing some of the funny-tasting koolaid, putting on a robe, and stumbling around while muttering incoherent praises to the great Autocli, begging her favors*

Indeed, it is September somewhere.

One of my cards has arrived but not reported. Another has reported but not yet arrived.

I know it is finally time for my credit to age. My AAoA has to grow up, and shouldn't try stay 4 (months) forever.
