Has anyone in this thread that said Capital One sucks even had a Capital One card?

Nope, and don't plan too.. my coworker did have a C/O card. He was paying way to many fees and when he needed to fix a problem they wouldn't help him. When he called to cancel the card they didn't bother making him an offer or at least tried to convince him to stay. . He was just told to destroy the card..

Roger.

Just so everyone is tracking:

The two people who actually have a card with them (Me and popa) havent had any problems out of them.

The two who say Capital One sucks soooooo bad has never had them and is going off hear say?

People, lets comment on what we have experience with. Makes life a little easier to sort through the bull****.

Now I am not saying CO is the most awesome card, but I really dont believe they are as bad as people make them out to be. OP already has a relationship with CO and he will easily be able to see all of his money together (CC, Checking, and savings). I think this is an inmportant step for new people coming into Credit.

The link I mentioned earlier. It's not perfect data, as it excludes some issuers. Also, it fails to take into account the differing customer bases; CO has a large number of customers building or rebuilding their credit with low to moderate spending, while Amex benefits from a small number of people who spend a lot.http://www.creditcards.com/credit-card-news/card-complaint-data-cfpb-1282.php

But Discover does not really have the high-spending customer base that Amex and Chase do, so I think it is meaningful that CO generates a lot more complaints than Discover.

I don't see why an individual's experience with CO or lack thereof matter very much when we can all share our experiences on here. After all, I don't have to dabble in cigarettes for a few months to know they are not going to be an experience good for my health. Data can be useful.
Love: IHG, Platinum, Sallie Mae, AA Plat, CSP
Like: Discover, ED, BCE, Hyatt, Arrival, Freedom
Might drop: BrooksBros, Prestige (Costco PC?)
Might add: Proper business card, CSR, Ritz, Delta Gold
Letting new accounts cool off since May
Really not sure what I'll add next or when

I'm just gonna say that I think to a degree, experiences with lenders can be different for people. Some seem to not have much of a problem getting decent CLIs from Discover while other people I've seen here haven't had that many CLIs with them at all.

I can also see why data like that can prove to be very valuable in seeing which lenders are probably going to have the best service.

I've had several cards with them... here's a Crap One Tri-Pull to prove it(pasted from Amex CreditSecure):

CAP ONE
EXPERIAN® EQUIFAX® TRANSUNION®

Business Name CAP ONE CAPITAL ONE BANK USA
Inquiry Date 8/17/2013
Business Type All Banks CAP ONE
Inquiry Date 8/17/2013 8/17/2013
Business Type Bank Credit Cards Banks and S&Ls

I've dealt with them for a long time. ING (and Sharebuilder) used to have great customer service until Cap One bought them (and turned it into CrapOne 360. Household Credit used to have decent customer service until CO bought them. They are a decent starter card (say compared to First Premier or Credit One), but someone new to credit or rebuilding would be much better off with a credit union card or secured card by a prime issuer than anything by Cap One. Otherwise, you'll have a $500 card which will likely always have a toy limit unless you beg someone in the EO.
In my Wallet:
  • Amex PRG NPSL[3-14, bd 91]
  • Sallie Mae MC $8000[1-14]
  • Chase Freedom $4700[1-14]
  • Discover It $2750[8-13]
  • BoA UCF Alumni Cash Rewards $5000 [3-15]
Sometimes in my Wallet:
  • GM BuyPower WEMC $5000[9-14]
  • Wells Fargo Propel 365 Amex $7000[4-14]
  • Barclaycard Arrival WEMC $7000[3-14]
  • BoA Better Balance $3000[2-15]
In my sockdrawer: Amex BCE $1000[10-13, bd 91], OCCU Duck $10000 [11-13], The Sportsman's Guide Visa $8000[8-14], Chase Slate $4000 [9-14]Delta Gold Amex $2000 [2-15 bd 91], Diners Club MC $20000 [10-14] Commerce Bank Visa $2000 [3-15] Citi Double Cash $1000 [3-15]
Total CL: $90450

I completely forgot that Amex has their own credit monitoring service. Definitely signing up. And access to all three bureaus for just 15 bucks too.

Says CapOne pulled two of my reports when I applied for their college card.

Update: NVM. Think it was three. CreditSecure has the Equifax inquiry listed separately.

I currently have one, and although the card doesn't really have any strengths to mention (talking about the Platinum), it was an easy card to get, and CO hasn't given me any problems really. These days I only use it for things like parking and misc charges though.

I have CapOne CC. CapOne is the first to give me 10K limit CC. not sure why people can hate it so much without having relationship with CapOne. it's as if there is a propaganda on the hate everywhere on every forum. triple pull is fine unless you are planning app spree. what's the big fuse about their HP on 3 CRA? I don't get it.

I'm not complaining either. I'm quite happy with the CLI I just got from them and just a couple of months of my card being their college card, I asked someone on their chat if I had any offers on file and I was really surprised to know that I could upgrade to the Quicksilver so that's another way they've been generous in my case. They matched the new limit of one of my other cards pretty much. Didn't even have to do anything and it was there earlier than I thought it would be.

I'm hoping Discover will grant me a similar kind of increase after six months but I have no clue yet. Also amazing to me how long I've had my Citi card and yet they've been in my experience the least likely to budge on anything no matter how much I've used that card and what my payment history has been on it.

Have a feeling what I'm gonna do to my WF card really soon given how I have to have that card open like 9 months just to get any CLIs and that I heard that sometimes it's a HP just to request one if it's not automatically granted on the phone. On top of that, their rewards will be really boring and lame after that six month intro offer expires. It simply becomes just a 1% cashback card after that period of time because it's 3% cashback on gas, groceries, and drugstore purchases for the first six months.

Yep I've had several. 500 limit that can never grow with a 39 annual fee were 3 of them and one was their "green" card with a 3k limit and no annual fee and 1.5 % rewards. And they suck in my opinion. When you are just starting out they are fine, though I will grant that, they are the best way to establish credit, HOWEVER once you can get better I sure wouldn't want them in my wallet.
