I've been able to not have new inquiries on my TU credit report for a few months now, so more and more, the Sallie Mae Mastercard is looking way better in that sense and I know Barclays usually pulls TU so that's one option I'm considering for next year.

I'm rethinking priorities and I'm just glad to have a high limit card that's not with Amex that I can use to pay for those kinds of bills that don't take Amex among numerous other things.

I see your point.i think chase changing the rewards is not that good. i mainly got the freedom the CSP and the discover all this month. to increase my available credit ratio. which i think its totally worth it. since i only had 1000 CL prior

Same thing with my new Chase card besides taking advantage of that sign up offer. I really wasn't expecting them to give me that much for one card but it's gonna be a huge boost to my overall CLs and it allowed me to close another card that I had used to build my credit up more. Looking at it that way, I'm not really disappointed in the slightest and in fact my expectations of Chase have been exceeded. Feels so good to have come a long way from starting out with just one kinda lame college card from Citi to being able to really get in with the prime lenders in just about a year proving to myself that it can be done and learning from my mistakes along the way.
