Citibank authorized signer

Postby midwestguy » Wed Aug 06, 2014 9:20 pm

My mom said she would add me as an authorized signer to her Citibank sears card. I have heard that the payment history and info would carry over to my report. I also read that FICO updated some rules a while back but still not clear on it. Does anyone know if I am added an authorized signer on a citi mastercard if that will carry over to my credit? and what happens when she takes me off eventually...will it look like the card just became inactive? She also wanted to make sure my lack of credit history wouldn't bring down her score, but everything read indicated the reports are not tied to each other its just a transfer of the card info? Thank you so much for any help.

Your credit can't affect hers so don't worry about that. I don't know if that card will report you as an authorized user or not, but if it does, and she takes you off, it will still report on your credit for 10 years.
