I had been clean from app-ing since January 20th of this year, but then I relapsed and app-ed for 2 more cards on July 12th. I have angered the gardening gods and have given in to my desires. :( But since then, I turned my life around, have been clean ever since, & am back on the road to recovery(and the path to nirvana, known as the "Zen garden!")! :P

As a side note of guilt, I applied for the Dodge card (by FNBO). I doubt I'll get it as they in my experience are almost as sensitive to inquiries as Citi and US Bank (which is the main reason I expect to be declined along with too many new accounts). But an inquiry is an inquiry. Reason I applied for it is the 3 points per dollar spend on the maintenance. Just for oil changes alone using synthetic it will add up.

Am also considering applying for Lowe's with buying the house assuming that goes through. I really don't want a pocketful of cards though so FNBO when they decline me probably will be a blessing in the long run. I'm not sure I really want to do that so I'm still debating it. I'm pretty sure GE would approve and maybe with a healthy line, it's just would I really make use of it.

If anyone deserves to be struck down by a bolt of lightning by the gardening gods, it's me.

As a side note, Amex gave me the first part of the sign up bonus on the Hilton card. I wasn't sure I'd get it since the verbiage read (to me) if you already have an Amex they may not give it to you. So I tried a purchase just to see and sure enough after I paid for it, I got 40k points. The other part is another 35k points if you spend 3k in 3 months. At first I was bummed thinking there is no way for me to make that spend on an Amex in a responsible way, but now I've realized I'll need some things done around my house and also to purchase a lawn mower/weed wacker/snowblower in that 3 months so now I think by putting all my spend on the card that I can, I can make it. The 35k points is worth the shot. But that's why the Lowe's card wouldn't see much if any use right away and the only reason I'm hesitating on it. I can always apply later when I might put spend on it.

So does it count as gardening if a CLI on an old card comes with hard pulls? Or CLIs have to be soft pulls or automatic?
Very useful: SchwabPlat, CSP, IHG, Costco (was AA Plat), Freedom, SPG, Prestige (retention)
Somewhat useful: Discover, ED (was EDP), BCE, Hyatt
SD with activity alerts, might close: Arrival

Might add: Proper business card, CSR, Ritz, Delta Gold, First Tech, BofA Travel PH, Aviator Red

Any inquiries = out of the garden. Major sin. Eternal damnation.

My gardening began on Aug 1. It would have been earlier, but I was doing some car shopping (decided not to actually get one right now), and app for a couple of cards. I'm pretty satisfied with my portfolio now though so I don't think I'll be too tempted to leave the garden.

Hello fellow garden cultists! This month, I plan on getting a big screen for every room in my apartment... and then I'll file bankruptcy. I have a total of 8 rooms to work with... although I have a few closets/storage rooms. I could also use one for my patio. A few big screens as "digital picture frames would be nice, too. I have $35000 available credit to work with. Suggestions? I do want as many 4k displays as possible (70'' or better). I figure I'll max out all my cards, skip a few months of payments, and then either file bankruptcy and/or drink the delicious Garden Club kool-aid (although the sodium cyanide does leave a little aftertaste).
In my Wallet:
  • Amex PRG NPSL[3-14, bd 91]
  • Sallie Mae MC $8000[1-14]
  • Chase Freedom $4700[1-14]
  • Discover It $2750[8-13]
  • BoA UCF Alumni Cash Rewards $5000 [3-15]
Sometimes in my Wallet:
  • GM BuyPower WEMC $5000[9-14]
  • Wells Fargo Propel 365 Amex $7000[4-14]
  • Barclaycard Arrival WEMC $7000[3-14]
  • BoA Better Balance $3000[2-15]
In my sockdrawer: Amex BCE $1000[10-13, bd 91], OCCU Duck $10000 [11-13], The Sportsman's Guide Visa $8000[8-14], Chase Slate $4000 [9-14]Delta Gold Amex $2000 [2-15 bd 91], Diners Club MC $20000 [10-14] Commerce Bank Visa $2000 [3-15] Citi Double Cash $1000 [3-15]
Total CL: $90450
