my unemployed friend was also surprised to get this offer in his mail too.

Not that I feel offended by the comparison since I have a very good credit history, but anyway, I honestly think this was not a mistake since I've received 2 offers from them and 1 from Amex Platinum card... I guess they really want me.
All offers aside, IMHO no card is worth $400+ a year and with that being said, they can pull me off their extravagant mailing list right now; both Barclay and Amex.
One more thing! I keep getting that really expensive one from Citi too... So ridiculous

My mom just got a Visa Black invitation, and she called me to see if it was "worth it."

"It says it waives foreign fees," she said. "So maybe that's why it costs $495 a year.."

I pointed out that I have a no-annual-fee card that waives foreign transaction fees ...
Cards:

-Capital One Quicksilver
-Barclaycard Arrival (no AF)
- US Bank (no rewards)
-IHG

I would never want this card quite frankly and when it comes to Barclays, I'm sure they have way better options where you don't have to pay such a high AF.
Macy's TLs (21k), Lowes (17k), CSP (10k), Sam's Club (10k), Nordstrom (5k), AARP (4.2k), Freedom (3k), Discover (1.5k), Quicksilver (2k), BoA (3k), Barclaycard Arrival (2.5k), Amazon Store (6k), Paypal (4.9k), Sam's Club MC (3.6k), Walmart MC (1.2k)

completely agree with you
So far I like my Arrival+. I like the 2 points on every purchase feature and even though I already got the sign up bonus points, I'm still using it; I even got a compliment (nice card and logo) lol.
I'll probably go back to CSP (for some reason I preferred it ) teamed up with Freedom to rack up those UR points (I'm hooked lol) but right now Arrival+ rules.

It's no so much a matter of income as it is being able to utilize the benefits. Higher income can help but simply having a higher income doesn't automatically make the Visa Black a good fit.

It's not a mistake but it's just marketing.

Yeah my bad bro, I didn't mean to try and offend anyone...I was just stating that they sent out a MASSIVE mailing...and their requirements are even more lax than Amex plat (which are getting pretty lax as of late).

Chase Sapphire Preferred
Hawaiian Airlines BOH MC
USAA Amex
