Card was closed and new account was created because old card was lost/stolen. No fraudulent charges. New card and account number is in mail, should be delivered within a week. Merchant sent refund to old card that is now "closed", will the refund process, and transfer to new account, or will it get kicked back? I spoke to the bank, they said that old card should no longer work. I assume that applies to charges, not payments, or does it also apply to payments/refunds. I asked the merchant to mail a check, but we will see what happens.
I assume that since the merchant already sent the refund to the old card, it will bounce back in 3-5 days, or instantly. Then the merchant could send to new card, or write check. Anyone else had similar experience, or will I have to wait a few weeks and let it deal with itself?
