Card question

Postby Cookie Monster » Mon Jul 14, 2014 7:58 pm

I am really new to this, I have always just used card for paying for things with very little thought about rewards. I am now starting to travel a lot more and I'm interested in getting free travel. I currently have-

Chase freedom 22k
CSP 32.5k
Barclay everyday elite 15k
American Express PRG
I just got approved for the CIti elite card for the 100k bonus I am working on. Limit is 26k

My question is what of those cards are the best to use for everyday things? I don't think I need that many cards. The Citi I probably won't keep after a year because the fee is so high.
I spend about 5k on business charges and 4k on personal a month roughly.

What's everyone's thoughts? Thanks for any info!

Not at all meaning to be rude or offensive, but I would think that you know or could EASILY find out what those cards give in terms of rewards, and you know exactly where your spend goes OR could easily track that spend. Thus, assuming you can do the basic math required, it should be pretty easy for you to figure out what card maximizes rewards for your spend.

So I'm not sure we can give you any brilliant advice here you can't easily figure out on your own. And given that I spoon feed people all day long (and am getting sick of it) I'm not up to the challenge so I'd like to invite you to empower yourself and do some simple math and take pride in figuring it out for yourself. Trust me, you'll feel better when you do it.

Best is always subjective. Where is most of your "everday" spend? Best is probably whatever cards maximize your rewards on your major spend categories unless you're using different criteria for "best".
