Chase/Sapphire questions

Postby JakeFromStateFarm » Fri Jul 11, 2014 2:36 pm

Hello all,

Been lurking on these forums but never registered until today. I have a few questions about Chase that I can't seem to find anywhere online!

1) How many Chase cards can you have? I currently have 3 (Freedom, Sapphire, and Hyatt).
2) I have a regular Sapphire card, can I still apply for the Sapphire Preferred and get the bonus? Or will I have to PC my regular to the Preferred version? The Chase rep I emailed seemed to think that only NEW Sapphire applicants can get the bonus (i.e., only 1 bonus per Sapphire card, regardless of version).
3) The last Chase card I rec'd was from November 2013, what's the minimum waiting period before I can apply again?
4) Does the Ink Bold have the same restrictions as above or is it different b/c it's a business card?

Thanks! Happy Friday!

You can have at least 4 as I have 4. I think there are FlyerTalk users with more.

Wording is vague (you can refer to it yourself) -- maybe intentionally so. I doubt you'll get a conclusive answer on this.

You're fine to apply now. Whether your credit supports the approval, though, is a separate matter.

Thanks for the replies! I checked the Chase prequalification page and it says I can apply for that 0% APR card (forget the name of it), and had Sapphire Preferred and Marriott as alternatives so I didn't want to waste a hard pull on a Preferred if there's no chance that I can get it.

Still trying to decide between the CSP or the Ink. Or both! :oooo

My banker tells me that all their cards have the same underwriting requirements, with the provision that some (like the CSP) require a minimum credit limit.

This is kismet. Just yesterday I applied for CSP having had their MileagePlus and Sapphire Visas for a year this month. I had debated for a while whether I should apply or just PC the Sapphire. I bit the bullet, applied online, and was approved for my third Chase Signature card. By the way, when I contacted Chase with some questions last year, the CSR told me there are people with as many as eight Chase cards.

You will still get the bonus if you spend $3K in three months. I've found a sweet business class fare to Paris in the fall that will take care of my spend.

If you qualify, I don't think there needs to be a waiting period. Heck, I was approved for both the Sapphire and the United card in the same day.

Sorry, I can't comment about the Ink card.

Good luck, and remember, YMMV.
