They've always approved me but with low limits compared to my other cards and I never got anywhere trying to recon with them on it. In fact one of their CSRs told me on the phone they do not recon. I know, never say never, but that's what I was told. In any case they are not recon friendly.

That's interesting they pulled TU - I've applied for numerous cards with them over the last couple of years and every pull was EQ which they are known to pull for new cards. Maybe they are diversifying their pulls a bit. Is it possible they pulled both for you?

Discover pulls based on where you live. (And will double and triple pull, probably for marginal or otherwise deficient first pulls.) I have not looked to see what they'e done lately, but they've never pulled anything but TU for me (in chicago, which is where TU are based, and they acquired all the chicago local historial credit bureaus), unless they have a third party do it. (my EQ report has a bunch of soft pulls by equifax, which is kind of odd.)

So I spoke with the recon line earlier today and here is what I found out:

1. They did in fact pull from EQ, so you guys are not mistaken. It just so happens that my EQ showed up on their end as "no credit history"

2. That's when they automatically pulled TU, which showed my derogs and was declined on that merit

3. They keep pushing their secured credit card, which is pretty nice according to their comparison chart.

4. In hindsight, I should've froze TU and EX so that way Discover would only be left with a blank credit history on EQ and in that instance I may have had a chance getting approved via verifying employment and income...
