US Bank Cash+ for third app spree?

Postby supercoolman » Fri Jun 13, 2014 2:54 am

have had Freedom, Wells Fargo and Capital One (all with $5000 CL VISA platinum) for more than 3 years. I was approved for 10K QuickSilver and 9K CHASE Amazon card last week. Interestingly, both are VISA signature.

now I would like to apply for US Bank Cash+ as the last one in current app spree because it allows me to choose the 5% categories. Freedom 5% hasn't match my spending for the past 18 months, so I haven't use it at all and consider cancelling it.

I'm looking for some advice to see if I had missed anything on the pro and cons of the card or if 3 cards apps spree is too much. can you redeem cash back of Cash+ in the form of a check? if I don't have any US Bank account, how would I redeem the cash back?

That's really impossible for us to say. How many cards one can reasonably expect to spree for isn't going to be the same from person to person since everyone's credit isn't identical. It's not so much the number 3 as it is whether or not US Bank would approve your credit for the Cash+.

I haven't had the card in a while but I remember I took the money as statement credit. I believe they also would send a check if you wanted but I never did that - then I'd have to go to the bank and deposit it and it was just easier for me to get a statement credit.

thanks for the info. I looked all over the website, but couldn't find the link takeshi provided from the CASH+ web page. the web page doesn't list check as one of the option. I don't really want to open another bank account, but also don't want to restrict cash back spending to just statement credit on the same card since this won't be my main card. I was hoping to redeem the cash back just like CO even if it has some minimum amount for cash out as long as the amount is reasonable

too lazy to drive 20+ miles to apply for US bank cash+. decided to pull the trigger earlier on the targeted AMEX BCE offer and was approved with CL higher than all other CC I've had. wonder if AMEX is trying competing against CHASE or CO's. that's the end of my app spree for 1H2014.

Does anyone know why they make you apply in person for a Cash+?
Warranties and sketchy merchants: Schwab Platinum
Price rewind: Costco
Travel insurance: Prestige, CSP
Perks: IHG, Hyatt
Rewards/Offers: Discover, Freedom, ED, BCE
Taxes/Misc: SPG

Limited value, might close: Arrival

Might add: First Tech, proper business card

My roommate thinks so you can't do a spree like this.

What's the checking bonus with Chase Freedom?

you get annual 10% on the CB you earned if you have Freedom and Checking account

there is nothing stopping you from doing spree even if you have to apply CC in person. maybe they have business with gas companies? jk

I think they may want their rep to push other products depending on the pull result of you just like how auto dealers have the skilled money ninja with you while you do the paper work for a car in a closed office

I went in and tried to apply for the Cash+, they didn't try to sell me anything else. I did open a checking/savings account, but there's a bonus and I'm hoping it will make it easier to get the Cash+ in the future (I'm gonna get rejected so...)
