How to avoid foreign transaction fees?
I'd appreciate your help finding a good cash back or rewards card that doesn't charge a foreign transaction fee or an annual fee. Thanks. Bryan

As far as I know Discover and Capital One do not charge foreign transaction fees. Of those 2 I would say Capital One is more usable because they are Visa/MC. I am sure there are other cards but w/out more information from about your spending habits I am not sure where to look.

Thanks for the tip. I'll see what Capital One has to offer. Bryan

It is correct that Discover does not charge foreign transaction fees. Discover also is not accepted in very many places overseas, based on my research.

That's been my experience too. And for that reason I decided to go with a Capital One credit card. I'll let the forum know what I think about the card once I receive and start using it. Thanks for helping me decide.

There is no foreign exchange fee for Capital One debit cards too, so one could just open a checking account there, load it, and use the debit card without the need to apply for a credit card, which aren't that special aside from having no foreign transaction fee.
