Default Citi AA lowered my APR. All I had to do was ask.

A friend who also has a Citibank American Airlines card told me that Citi frequently has special interest rates and sometimes permanent rates that you can get if you merely call customer service and ask. I called and my APR was permanently dropped (pretty substantially too) in a very pleasant call with no application needed or call transferring involved.

I called back to speak to a different person in a different center to make sure that it had been explained correctly to me, and yes the rate reduction is "permanent" or should I say non promotional.

Too bad you have to call and that its not just given; perhaps it would have been given with the passage of time. That said, glad I called.

    Pleasant experience.

Wonderful experience! I went to my bank a few month ago (Commonwealth Bank in Australia) and I got my credit card interest rate lowered as well.

I think in this market there are a lot of banks ect. trying to get business and keep their customers happy, its such a consumer market here at the moment.

I don't ask and Chase keeps sending me loads of 0% BT offers all the danged time after I did my one and paid it off.

Now when people say 'permanent' reduction, do you mean the APR is dropped to a FIXED rate or do you mean the APR was simply dropped to a lower rate and will stay there so long as you keep your account in good standing?
