What to do if you did not get assistance from your bank - SDFINCH Credit Cards
Sometimes you will run into issues or problems with your bank when asking for help or assistance. If you have a legitimate financial problem and asked the bank to help out with a payment arrangement or hardship assistance and do not receive help, there is a solution that may just help you. You can contact the Office of the Comptroller of currency or (OCC).
Now do not call the OCC just because they will drop your interest rate when you ask them. Unless you feel your bank has falsely raised your interest rate for no reason and without any prior notice. Make sure to try and work that issue out directly with your bank first. If they cannot give a reason for the interest rate increase, then it may be worth your time to file a complaint. Let the bank know you’re going to file a complaint also; it might help you to get your old interest rate back or maybe a better one.
OCC's Customer Assistance Group (CAG) helps customers resolve issues with national banks and their operating subsidiaries. Trained professionals answer questions and provide informal guidance related to:
Applicable banking laws and regulations
General banking practices
The CAG also provides an avenue to offer informal consumer education on banking and the use of credit and maintains the HelpWithMyBank.gov Web site.
Have you got a question, concern, or complaint about a national bank? We recommend the following options:
Contact your bank directly first. It is most likely to have the specific information you need and is in the best position to resolve your problem.
Visit HelpWithMyBank.gov where you will find answers to frequently asked questions and other resources.
