Thread: Is World Financial Network National Bank a scam?

I kept getting calls from World Financial Network National Bank, showing up as WFNNB on the caller ID. The recording said it was about World Financial Network National Bank credit card or something. Then last week I get a mailing from them saying that if I want to keep my personal info private I will have to call their phone number and opt out. I give the phone number a call and am answered by a recording asking for my credit card account number or my social security number if I don't have my account number. This is insane who are they and I can't believe I am being asked for my social security number on an answering machine!

Any idea what this World Financial Network National Bank is up to? I still don't know if they are a scam or not because from what I found through searching there are conflicting reports on this company. Tons of complaints but the BBB rates them an A+. World Financial Network National Bank is supposedly a big store credit card issuer but I don't know why they would be contacting me.

Any help would be appreciated.

The World Financial Network National Bank credit cards make up a sizable chunk of the retail store card market. I have no idea what the phone call you received was about but I can tell you they are a real company that has been around a long time and are not a scam as far as that goes.

But are the interest rates and fees that the World Financial Network National Bank charge reasonable? That is a whole other discussion.
