Monro Muffler Credit Card Has You Between Rock & Hard Place

Postby onlyakiss » Mon Jul 08, 2013 4:31 pm

I feel like such an idiot because I was already well aware of how much of a suckers bet retail cards can be.

But noooo I went with it. I was at Monro Muffler a year ago for a completely unexpected repair - brakes - and got suckered into the 'brakes forever' package which is brakes for life. It's stupid though because I found out after the fact you still have to pay labor which is the most expensive part. The 'for life' is only for disc pads and shoes.

I knew I could have gone home and applied for a 0% credit card on my own that would be better. But since I was caught unprepared I went with the Monro credit card. It is no interest for 12 months but you have to pay it all back before then. I didn't because I wasn't thinking it worked that way. I'm so angry right now

Mechanic shops have these cards mostly for folks who cannot afford the repairs and are at wits end. I think this is not a bad thing really because what else would the do. Why someone with their financial house in order though would get one, that beats me. You never said how much Monro Muffler charged you.

Practically every time I have had my car in the shop, at the chain stores like Monro Muffler, I have had them try and shove a credit card account down my throat. YOu say you feel like an idiot and I'm not going to deny that you are because it was a stupid decision. What is your credit score? My opinion is that these cards are great opportunities for helping you get you back on your feet after bankruptcy and collections but for any other purpose? NO THANK YOU!
