Can you do a balance transfer to your bank account?

Postby RedPumpernickel49 » Thu Jan 24, 2013 2:03 pm

Hi,

I received balance transfer checks for my Chase Freedom card. I am thinking about using one to pay off some debt. They are for 0% APR until 02/2014.

What I'm wondering is, if I write the check to myself in order to deposit it into my bank account, will I still receive the 0% APR or will the check be treated as a cash advance (and I'll be charged my cash advance APR)?

Thanks for your help!

You will have to read the terms of that offer chase sent you. Most of the time tho, they allow you to deposit the check right into your bank acct and usually those balance transfer offers say somewhere along the lines "Even use these checks for personal use!"
