0% APR for 6 months: Will Chase "reconsider" it for my card?

Postby andy1088 » Sun Apr 08, 2012 9:53 pm

I just got a Chase freedom card, but did not get the 0% APR for 6 months. I called Chase today to see what they could do, and she said she couldn't do anything, but another department that isn't open on weekends could.

Do you guys I think I have a fair shot? I did get Discover to give me the 0% APR when I didn't get it either because the website promised it to me (Chase's website also said 0% for 6 months), but I know Discover's customer service is probably more forgiving than Chase's.

Did anyone ever get a feature reconsidered for them? Thanks for any and all help!

Personally, I would call and ask for a retention team or a supervisor. A regular Chase advisor probably can't do much about it... That's what I would do!
-American Express Zync.
-Discover IT. 4.5k limit 7.99%
-MC Citi diamond preferred. 1500 limit
-Visa Chase freedom. 2k limit.(23.24%, NOT IN USE)

-Best buy store card. 1500 limit
-Mt. America visa 1k limit

Chase is useless as usual. I've been banking with them for nearly four years, and I understand banking is different from a credit card, but seriously they won't do anything for me. Discover was able to fix this issue within less than ten minutes. I even asked for a smaller window of 0% (like 3 months), and they won't budge. It's really not fair. On top of it I've been on the phone 20 minutes and they keep changing departments on me.. This is the fifth transfer I've been involved in. Ugh. I really dislike chase, I've been banking with them for four years according to the rep that would be discriminatory to base incentives on banking well what about the extra 10% is that discriminatory? I'm beyond frustrated with this piece of crap company. I'm going to my whatever back after spending $500 and probably cut the card. At least Discover made an effort to help me, and I was a brand new customer never even applied there before! Now I see why a lot of forum members don't like Chase, their customer service is poor and they don't help in any way shape or form. I don't see how being a loyal checking account customer for four years shouldn't help you.. Most companies reward loyalty not call it "discriminatory" Oh well looks like another card going into my rotation of "do not use"

Is it possible you didn't get the offer because you already bank with Chase?

No, I didn't get it because my credit is only eligible for the "highest apr ". (22.9%) Aka they barely approved me and my credit "sucks" according to them. I'm really pissed because they wasted 40 minutes of my day and screwed me over. I can't believe Discover a company I never had a relationship with would help me over a company I've been a customer with for 3 almost four years.

If you're not closing the card, there's no reason to sock drawer it. Use it for what it's good for (the 5% categories) so at least you can get a few bucks back each month.

Fortunately the 5% categories (such as gas and groceries) aren't likely things you'd have to call customer service about and if you pay your bill monthly the APR doesn't matter.
