A charge off from just 2 years ago could be a problem. To be blunt I would not be looking for a credit card to carry a balance on when you have less than perfect credit. The APR you get will probably be high, making it too costly to use the card for financing anything.
But to answer the original question, the best credit cards for less than perfect credit would be entry level charge cards because they are easier to get approved for. But you already said you want to use it to carry a balance and you can't do that with a charge card like the Amex Zync
because you will have to pay the charges in full each month. For regular credit cards I would shoot for the middle of the road issuers. Don't try and go for premium cards like the Sapphire, etc because I doubt you would get approved.
