Pleased with 4th quarter Bonus

Postby FutureBillionaire » Mon Nov 05, 2012 6:45 pm

I love the 5% for online shopping. I would actually love this offer year 'round. I'm a happy Discover customer right now. I don't really care about the gas quarters because I have two Penfed cards. If I could have online shopping and groceries/gas every quarter, this card would be tough to beat. I earned a bunch of cash back in October.

I was actually thinking about that today. I think the irvine guy works for them. I need to ask him about it.

I haven't maxed out yet. That's impressive. I may get close after black Friday though. I'm getting a laptop.

Yup, it's great. I used it for a fat utility bill paid online last month and wasn't given credit, but I sent a note and they fixed it.

Since they manually added the bonus, I'm not sure if it still counts against the $1500 cap.

Looking forward to seeing the new categories for next year from this card and Chase Freedom, hopefully the categories won't match up.

I would be close to maxing it out if my new skis hadn't been manually keyed! Dangit. I was looking forward to getting $66.50 back. Oh well....there are still new boots and bindings to purchase at 15% cash back through the Cashback Mall.

I'm at just over $1k on it. I MIGHT spend the remaining like $450 on some more computer parts, but I haven't decided yet.

Also, they sent an email out stating that on top of everything else, they are offering an additional $20 cashback bonus for every $1000 you spend through December 31st (up to $5000). Discover might not always have the best categories, but when they have a killer category like online shopping and add all their promotions on top as well as the shopdiscover bonuses, their cash back puts any other card out there to shame.

This is the second email you have posted about that I haven't seen. I'm buying a computer, and possibly a TV, so I should hit this threshold.

FB, if you want i'll forward it to you if you pm me with your email adddress. There was a link for me to activate the promo though, so you might have to call Discover if you didn't receive it. If you're gonna buy that stuff with your card, it would suck to miss out on the bonus cashback cause of a technicality like not activating it or something.

If you bought the items through a website just send a note to Discover "reminding" them that your purchase qualifies for the bonus.
