Thread: Is Macy's a department store for the 5% back?

I know this sounds dumb, but is Macy's on the list of department stores for the 5% back bonus? Also when does the cash back start to show on my account? Thanks

Macy's is considered a department store for the extra 5% back (I believe up to $300). All merchants have what is called a Merchant Catagory Code (MCC). They are pretty universal, so when you swipe your card at a grocery store, the bank gets a four digit code that indicates that it is grocery. Same with the department store and gasoline stations.
