I've not noticed this practice. Has anyone else?

I like it so far but have only recently gotten the card. I was previously using the AmEx Premier Rewards Gold for quite awhile as my primary, but got 100,000 points for upgrading to the Platinum so I'll use that as my travel card (lounge, $200 airline credit, etc.). When I upgraded to Plat., the SPG that I had been wanting just seemed like the best everyday card (for me) out there. Free first years and then $65 annual after that seems like a steal, even though it was half that just a year or two ago.

Going back to the other post about only getting 4.75% on the 5% catagories because the $3000 spend wasn't met. I've been told that the 5% catagory is still 5%, up to a certain spend regardless of meeting the $3000 spend.

    From the Discover More website:
Up to 1% Cashback Bonus - Automatically earn 1% unlimited Cashback Bonus on purchases after your total annual purchases exceed $3000; purchases that are part of your first $3000 earn .25%. Warehouse purchases (those made at select warehouse clubs, discount stores and their affiliates) earn .25%. 5% Cashback Bonus program - Earn 5% Cashback Bonus on category purchases up to the total purchase dollar amount specified in each program. You must sign up for each 5% program. Category purchases in excess of the specified amounts will automatically earn up to 1% Cashback Bonus. Warehouse purchases and category purchases are not included in determining your total annual purchases eligible to earn 1% Cashback Bonus.
I can't find anything in there about 4.25%.
