Default DiscoverCard internet access crashed and has been down a long time.

Discovercard's online access has crashed and been down all day. How do they not have redundancy? But lets but a "BS" spin on it; " we take pride in our award-winning customer service". The differences between what they say and how they act are diverigent on many fronts. Hope no one is depending on these people today. Here is the message you get:

    We're Sorry
Due to a system issue, you may be experiencing an interruption in customer service. The issue is affecting Discover's automated phone system, as well as Discover.com. All account numbers and cardmember information remain secure, and customers are able to use their Discover cards for purchases.

At Discover, we take pride in our award-winning customer service and we know our cardmembers rely on us for 24/7 support. We sincerely regret this inconvenience and hope to have this issue resolved soon.

But on the page that announces that their site is down there is a link to the "Peggy" ads, and it works. Hopefully these are calming people down while they wait.

Oh good, I am not the only one who is irked about this. The system is now back up and running with a new message:

"We appreciate your patience while our service systems were down. They are now up and functional. If this service interruption caused you to have a problem, we sincerely apologize, and please be assured we'll work with you to rectify the situation.

We are updating your account balances and payments in the system now. Thanks for your understanding"

I'm still trying to figure out why the payment I made on the 26th (the day before their system "crashed") still hasn't been applied to my account. I did pay a small portion of my balance on the 25th (it posted on the 26th), then paid the remaining balance that same day and it still has yet to be applied to my available balance. It is due to be posted on the 29th (today) and is usually available at midnight on the posting date. It's now 12:24 am. Can anyone tell me what is going on?

Lately Chase, Bank of America and now Discover have had lengthy outages. Given the size of their operations you would think things like this would not happen.

Have any details came about as to what caused this?
Disclosure: I am a moderator/paid staff of this site, which does have advertising relationships with some credit cards that are discussed. Regardless, anything I say is my honest opinion.
