Default Discover making something with Diner's Club?

I recently received a replacement card from Discover (keep in mind that this account/card is nearly 24 years old), but it wasn't to replace it because it was expired. In comparing the cards, the only difference I found was the new one was bearing a Diner's Club International logo next to the standard Discover logo.

Is Discover bringing back the Diner's Club brand to the US, or just merely something part of the merger?

    I have wondered the same.

When Discover bought Diners Club I thought it was to bring back the brand but we've seen none of that. Maybe now that the economy has recovered something new will be rolled out from Diners Club.

This is news to me I had thought Diners Club cards went out of business. How do they stick around when no one uses them?

It was a strategic acquisition for the processing network internationally. In some countries like China and Ecuador Diners Club is huge.

When you think about it, it makes sense to not re-launch or grow Diners Club domestically because it would compete with Discover cards. It could work as "Diners Club by Discover" but direct competition with Discover would be pointless.

why not bring it back as a credit card that gives discounts at restaurants. that would be a smart play on the name and bound to be popular.
