Fair? Sure; it's just a joke. Accurate? No; the "everybody club" applies to most other credit cards, too, so singling out the Discover card isn't really accurate, or clever. Funny? No; I really dislike "Family Guy," hate the show, actually. Now I'm thinking about the "South Park" episode that slams "FG." That's funny, and fair.

There's nothing wrong with Family Guy poking fun at Discover card but it's not accurate. Discover has been around 25 years. The Futurama clip got a chuckle out of me.

    Have you seen this one?

No accuracy to the Family Guy Discover card clip nor date clip, but I did find that last one funny. I'm not a Family Guy fan either jeffysdad.

How about those Discover Peggy commercials? I will start a new thread to discuss those.

the futurama clip got me thinking. what will there be for credit cards in the distant future. i have had this thought in the back of my mind that someday the govt will come out with their own debit card to save on costs of using bills and coins.

It's impossible to predict the future but I don't forsee credit cards going away anytime soon. I don't buy the small percentage that believes phones or microchip implants in our bodies will be used to store credit card information. Phones aren't reliable and good luck convincing us to use chips.

Seth MacFarlane was probably denied a Discover Card at one time in the past, probably likes to poke fun at them from time to time. There was also an episode of The Simpsons with the girl from friends, Phoebe Buffet (forgot her real name) and she got a call on her cell phone from Discover and she said she would never have a Discover Card.
