Default Discover card rental car insurance

How good is the Discover card rental car insurance? I recently got a Discover More card and would like to use it for car rentals during the months it gives 5% on that category. I know each credit card does their car rental insurance program differently and I would like to be assured that I won't get the short end of the stick with Discover. What is included and what's not?

I rented a car earlier this year and was in a very minor accident I learned firsthand about this.

basically, if you have decent car insurance at home you probably do not need and would not used the coverage from the credit card. If you did need to use it you'd find that it might only coverage damage to the rental car or the other car but not both. And sports cars or SUVs are usually excluded. Remember, these days lots of cars are considered sports cars.

My experience was very positive but if you read online you will find a lot of horror stories about accidents in rental cars

I have always ignored Discover but may end up getting one in the future if the benefits are good. Was your rental car insurance experience with a rental using a Discover card?
