Did you get the blue one?

JMR wrote:Thanks! Did you have any issue with getting all your store cards? I'm wondering if applying for a Nordstroms regular card (Not the Visa Signature) would be good. I regularly shop at Nordstroms. I don't know how long I should wait to apply considering the IT is my first card so I was thinking a couple months to wait to apply. Wish the best for you and your wife on building great credit scores! I have used a debit card since I was 16, (I don't like carrying much cash) but now I see the rewards you can get with credit cards if you use responsibly.

Thanks! That seems like a better option. But should I apply for a store card to increase total credit limit. Would that help in building my credit?

From my own personal experience I would say no. You already have one of the top tier cards. You should just wait to build up your history and then try to get another good card. My second was the Freedom and just got my first Amex. Each time I got a bigger limit then the last. YMMV though so others can chime in. You are 18. You have plenty of time. I did not get my Discover till I was 20. I am sure that your spending is quite low right now so you really do not need a lot of credit. The best thing I would think to do is increase your income so that you can get higher limits. I do not know what you are making right now but it must not be zero if you got a card from Discover.

Did you have an option? I did not see a choice when I applied. I like the standard blue design, but if I had my pick I would have chosen the garnet.

You should have been able to change it. You can go online and request a new card with a different design.

I saw that, but figured if they had already sent it there really wasn't any point. I am happy enough with the blue design.

Congrats on the approval; it's a great card to start with. My first card was the Discover More (sort of an It predecessor, I've since upgraded) at $500 as well. Had it for over a year before getting the AmEx TE card. The It is still my primary card as I bank with Discover as well.
It: $19.5k
TrueEarnings: $12k
Sallie Mae: $5k
Freedom: $2.5k

Best Buy: $8k
Kohl's: $0.8k

Discover TU FICO: 754 (6/2015)
