App'd for IT

Postby MemberSince99 » Mon Feb 03, 2014 3:12 pm

For some reason I simply could not get this one out of my head. It's like seeing Kate Upton's uh....eyes...you just can't get that out of your head. Anyway I had gone to the Discover website numerous times and completed the form but when it came time to hit submit just couldn't do it. Mostly to be honest out of fear of dropping myself into a lower bracket before I go for a mortgage.

Finally I just did it because I realized I want to add this to my portfolio. It's the last card I wanted that I don't have, as far as lenders go. So finally I just did hit the submit button.

I had to leave the page for a bit but I expected to get the "your application will be reviewed" message I'd gotten every other time I app'd with Dsicover, but when I returned guess what - instant approval my first with them. That was a surprise.

So then I was curious about the limit but it didn't say anything about that. It let me set up my account info. So I know they have the status page of the applications and they used to tell you the limit there, but it had nothing when I checked it. I figure I'll just wait till I get the card to find out. I'm not expecting much but whatever it is, it is.

And that completes my lender line up. And gives me at least one card of every type (Amex, Discover, MasterCard and Visa)/

They let me setup too, after instant approval, but I couldn't log into the account until I got the card in the mail. I enjoyed the package it came in, was nice.

Last week they gave me a $5 Starbucks gift card, just because. Between them and Chase Freedom, gas rewards are pretty much covered.

I went to app for Amex just now but everything is down for maintenance. Not sure what to think of that one.

Congrats! I love my Discover.

ETA: I was impatient and called to ask my limit after approval.

Oh wow Amex is down? I didn't know that. I'm sure they will be back up soon. Which card you going to apply for?
Thank you for the congrats I was honestly surprised to get an instant. They never said no to me before but it was never an instant, thye always reviewed it. I figure whatever the limit is I'll work with it. I hope it's more than 500 that will make it kind of hard to really use the way I'd like to. But I'll work with what it is.
You'll have to let us know how your app with Amex goes I'm wishing you luck!

Thanks I don't even know what the allure is, but it's there.

This is one I've been eyeing for too long as well. I need to just go ahead and pull the trigger on something already.

Congrats on the new card! You have quite the diversified portfolio.

If my memory serves me right, didn't you apply for this card about a year ago and then cancel it because the limit wasn't high enough? lol

You are correct papa. I knew someone would remember and call me on it, which you should. I realize that's how things may go and if so, so be it. I have other higher limit cards so whatever the limit is, it is. I'm just going to use all of them when and as I see fit and let them all compete for the business.
