otter wrote:Probably... seems like Discover has weird criteria. On FICO I always laughed when someone had a signature like this:

First Premier $300|Credit One $300|Target $100|Victoria's Secret $200|Discover $15,000| Fico score:600

I don't know what makes Discover give crappy limits to people with great credit and great limits to people wit crappy credit, but there must be some method in that madness.

I had to add a signature after I read this. The BoA is my first credit card and I've only asked them for a $200 increase one year ago. I have quite a few more accounts that I only used for the intro statement credits (thank you sony card!) last year.

I primarily use the Discover card and Target card. Actually... I don't even bring a visa with me most of the time.

Did you ever call to find out the limit? Or just waiting until the card arrives?

When I applied and set up the online access, I could see the limit a few days before the card actually arrived and was very pleased.

They competed well with my other cards.

No I never bothered to call I figure their CSRs have other things to deal with than answering a question like that, and I'm not expecting much anyway. I can wait.

You never know with Discover...I have good credit and good limits from other lenders and they wanted to compete so they gave me a $9k starting limit (instant approval). It wasn't my highest, but certainly not my lowest either.
After a few days, when I logged on to my account, the limit was displayed so I knew before the card arrived. You may be pleasantly surprised, so keep a positive outlook. It's a great card to have in the lineup.Good luck.

By the way I just checked the materials I did not get the best terms as it has my score - Discover gives it as a 784. Not sure why that would not get best terms but I'm just glad to have the card with a decent limit. And from a practical standpoint I'm not going to carry a balance so it's meaningless - I'd take worst terms for a 10k limit in a heartbeat.

But they gave me 14.99% on a scale of 10.99% - 22.99%. Again, that's fine, the limit works for me.

Member99, you just think you are done with cards for a while. Every time you go for groceries or gas or Amazon or any other gift card you could get at either one, that Sallie Mae 5% will be calling out to you like a Siren.
Gold American Express, since 1979,
back when it meant something.
And a few other cash back cards as well.

Nah I have no interest in the Sallie Mae card. I'll be lucky if Barclay's doesn't do a number on me for all the new accounts after theirs. They are known not to like that, but AA is always YMMV. So you're right I'm done for a while.

And yes, MembersSince 79 joined not too long ago we have two members, I guess two members are better than one....
