ZOMBIE THREAD!

There's a new standard it design called Rose Quartz (not sure exactly how new It is, but it's the first I've noticed it). I showed it to my wife and she had to have it, being pink and all. It arrived a couple days ago. I was hoping it wouldn't turn out too Pepto Bismol, but I think it looks pretty nice. Not too bright and not too 8-year-old-princess either. I think it actually looks better than the website picture, where it seems most turn out uglier IRL. My wife loves it, which is all that really matters, but she'd probably be happy with anything pink.

I almost did a dratus match to Choice Privileges Platinum tonight, but getting a pink Discover seems like it might be a better use of my time.

I'm still using the ugly Spruce design from their early chip days when many cards were oddly of a darker color.

Do you use it enough that an ugly card even bothers you?

Not that there's anything wiring with getting a new design.

It's in the top layer of my wallet, but only a little sliver of it is visible. The dark grey-green almost camouflages against the black leather, between the bright blue Freedom and glittery Platinum. It's only out briefly before I use it for payment and put it back, but when I look at it for a few seconds in good light I'm reminded what an ugly color it is.

I've not been using it much lately, as I've been cooking more than eating out.

The Freedom gets use, though!

And for anyone considering that, it's a one-time thing. So don't do it until/unless you think you can get good value from it.

I've had the "Monet Artist's Garden" since the design choices were first released, and I love it. It's amazing how often store personnel comment on it when it's presented.

Does anyone have a picture of their garnet, plum or copper chip card? I still have a non-chip card and am about to request a chip, but can't decide on a color! I'm curious as to what the three I mentioned above look like in real life, as opposed to the computer graphic. I found some earlier posts in this thread that are supposed to have pics, but they're not displaying. Wonder if they're just too old and the images have been removed.

What is a dratus match? If it's meant to say "status match", what do they match? Confused.

I used to have the Space Shuttle on my old Discover Open Road card. Got the regular silver card when I PCed to Discover IT. It looks fake, since it tries to go for the metallic look but is actually plastic. So I'm a bit disappointed with that.

I've looked, but haven't seen that space shuttle design as an option for the Discover IT. A little disappointed that there are fewer choices for the IT.

Instead of "drapping" (a portmanteau of "drunken apping") it would be submitting an equally-pointless hotel status match request while drunk ("drunken status match" becomes "dratus match").

Status matches can be good or bad, depending on the circumstances. Hyatt used to occasionally match people with even moderate status elsewhere to Hyatt Diamond. They would get a flood of customers whenever they did this, but I don't think those customers remained loyal to Hyatt so the practice has stopped (for the time being, at least). With a few suite upgrades and free breakfast, getting Hyatt Diamond was great for those who managed to get in during one of the short-lived promotions.

Choice Hotels' promotion is far less appealing. They are matching people to the middle two of four tiers, both of which offer extremely little...as in a few dollars' worth of extra points and luggage tags. The top tier isn't much better.
