I recommend you wait 3 months and then call. That's what I did today. I was issued a Discover It with a CR of $1000. I called today and they extended it to $5000. I explained to them that all my other credit lines are over $5000 so they said "OK" and went ahead and did it. Maybe I'll call back summer of 2014 and ask them to extend it again :)

I got my Discover card in Dec 2012 with lowest CL of $1000. 6 months later, I asked for CLI but they said that it requires Hard Pull. I said " No ". Last month, I asked if they would be willing to match the CL of $3000 as this is the lowest CL on my other cards. They did it.

mine is pretty low too compared to my other cc.

but i don't mind since I use it to track my everyday purchases which usually consist of a drink, pastry, lunch and maybe dinner..so yeah lots of food.

I also splurge every now and then, I just used it to buy this and discover shop offered 5%--ebates, which I normally use, gave 0% (I think it is because of the 25% off promo)

i'm going to soon purchase again, an ipad, and discover offers again 5% versus ebates which fluctuates between 1-3%

recently they gave me an auto increase on CL, i'm hoping that that doesn't pull my credit for (haven't checked yet) because i don't really need an increase..

it's a good card really if you pay it off every month and don't spend on big ticketed items consistently.

I like the ivory one. It should net 10% off due to the 5% off online shopping this quarter.

really? that would be awesome

but i would have gotten it nonetheless, i was debating between colours when they had 25% off a few weeks ago but the white one xs was sold out. went today and the grey is backordered w/shipping date 11/25 so i just jumped on it. hopefully it doesn't get cancelled.

first world problems

Cool. They offer 5% off on up to $1500 in online shopping this quarter as long as you signed up for the offer by calling them or by using their site.

Yes, this is a very first world problem

i'll have to see in two billing cycles then, after, because I thought that thats why shopdiscover was giving 5% automatically for places including apple? If so I am definitely going to get my replacement ipad before the quarter ends.

either way I'm a happy camper ;)

The 5% offers are stackable, however, check eBay and Amazon before you splurge :)

Short concise answer - they are as tight as a miser's purse.

Long answer - it's always YMMV. They seem to give higher limits to those who they feel will carry a balance and use the card heavily who have decent but not great credit. If you have great credit and take hard pulls it's possible to boost it over time as well but we are talking years as a rule. Again it's always YMMV but if you are looking for a high CLI Discover isn't the best option for that.

Terrible. But I think it is normal for Discover It. I just applied the card, and just received $1,000 only. :(
