Discover reported

Postby MemberSince99 » Mon Aug 19, 2013 8:46 am

That's the quickest I've seen a Discover card report. I still have never used it.

It honestly dropped my FAKO by 20 points. (no not the inquiry that reported months ago). Good thing FAKOs don't mean anything - if that was my FICO score I think I'd probably axe the card as it's not worth that price to me. As it is, I'll leave it in the sock drawer for now.

Reporting a month after opening it is unusual for Discover, correct? The rep told me I'd be billed in Sept and my first payment would be due in Oct. I was going to ask if they gave you a payment due date online before it showed up(that would be my clue), then I remembered you haven't used it.

Hmm has this happened to anyone else? Please chime in.

Can someone expound on how adding new cards might drop your score? Is there a way to figure this out before applying for a card? I know credit inquiries ding your score temporarily but am unsure of why/how new credit limits hurt? Is this when the limit is lower than what you currently have?

Thanks.

The drop in the AAoA is one way. I suspect in some models the limit does matter too - if your limits are 1k getting a 2k limit won't hurt but if you have 10k plus, it might.
