Discover card concierge service? Well this is interesting

Postby catsartcox » Mon Jul 08, 2013 12:50 am

I called Discover today trying to see if the could help with my trip in the coming weeks. Hotels and such. I did not know what all my services entailed.

It turns out I do not have any concierge service from Discover. The only help the give is when things go wrong. This is all ok, but I asked what would I have to do to get this service, as I see references to it on their site. She transferred me to an 'IT' card rep (stupidly). Who ended up doing a three way call with some sort of supervisor.

So from what she told me that they only way I can get concierge service is to have my account reviewed automatically (every 6-8 months) and one day it will just appear. She said it does not matter what card I get, a business one or the IT card. She says you don't get it by default, it is service that is only gained by tenure - no matter who you are.

Anyways, I thought that was a odd way of doing things, or at least an odd way to get one of their services out there.

Thoughts, or is there anyone out there that this has happened to? Kinda want some verification...

I've never heard of concierge service with Discover. Sounds like they are playing around with it though. I'll be curious to see how it develops. Maybe I’ll call and see if they offer it to me. I haven’t used my card since December though…
Sapphire Reserve: travel & dining (almost everything until I meet my initial spend)
Blue Cash Preferred: groceries & gas
Freedom: 5% cats
Double Cash: everything else

I wonder if it's a residual from the Private Issue card?

I have it. I've never used it, though. I did log on to the website, and look at it. The website sucks, but I guess what actually matters is what they do when you ask for something.

They started sending me mailers about it a year ago, after I'd had the card for maybe three months.

So it does exist? Alright.

Lots of typos on my first post though....I really should try to proof read these. Fun...
