auto CLI at 6 months?

Postby bgalakazam » Thu Jul 04, 2013 9:36 pm

I read in another thread there was a 500 to 700 automatic CLI. I am asking, because I opened my card as a Discover IT student (and got approved with mid 600s). Then 2 months later I called them and they removed the student status. This is true and I didn't intend to stop school but I am full time employed. They got this info and removed my student status. I am still at 500. Should I expect the auto CLI at 6 months? I primarily use the Discover card out of my cards (debit/credit), but 500 is really low and I don't want to waste a HP for Discover.

As far as I'm aware there is no "automatic" CLI with them (or really with any lender for that matter). I believe there is a chance you could see an auto but most likely you would have to call in and request (or do so online).

Some people on the FICO forum have posted they now allow you to request an increase sooner than 6 months can't recall if it was 2 or 3 months.

So I would not count on getting an auto CLI if it happens great but don't hold your breath waiting.

I'll keep it in mind. I know all these "auto" CLIs are never guaranteed, just wanted to check if anybody else had experienced it with the Discover IT.

My 500-750 was automatic. I got the card on 8/23/12 and my 750 CLI 2/9/13. I called them a few days later and without a hard pull moved it to 1200. The jump to 2500 happened a few weeks ago.

BUT I did have a automatic jump of 250$

I got an auto increase of $300 after 3 months. I'd say not to expect it if your spending isn't coming close to the limit. There were a couple of times where i got within $75 of my limit(i know, not good, but i didn't let it report that high). I quickly made a $700 payment and a month later they raised my limit a little.

I opened a More account in April of last year. Initial CL was $2k. They raised it to 3k after 8 months or so. (I asked the web form for an increase, it said "no" (SP). They gave me an increase after the next statement cut.). I PC'd to IT in May, they gave me a $1000 bump today (shortly after the second IT statement cut). I think, but am not sure, that I updated my employment and income data when I activated the card. I do use the card, sometimes a lot.

Personally I have given up any illusions that I'm ever going to get an increase out of this company. I'm not even going to ask (because hearing the inevitable no will simply hack me off). Just like Cap One, with Discover, I think we can count on having the same limit for as long as we have the card. The only difference between them is the Customer Service which is outstanding and the also outstanding online mall otherwise it's pretty much the same thing.

My Discover card (started as Open Road, then More, now It) went from $1,000 to $2,500 in just under two years time.

I got an auto-CLI from $500 to $650. Not 6 months yet. I guess it's still something.
