I bit the bullet

Postby MemberSince99 » Wed Jul 03, 2013 6:10 pm

And app'd for Discover. My guess was a 1.5k limit. I got 2k. I had already resigned myself to a low limit with them, that's just how they are gonna roll with me.

Why? Mostly their CS as well as their online mall and the card has decent rewards. I know they don't really care about having me as a customer one way or the other, but they never say no.....

So that is that. I also don't expect the card to grow, I resigned myself to that as well. I still have foolish hopes my Amex BCP will someday grow. I guess if they don't, well I have more than I can ever possibly need on other cards anyway.

Also there is the notion of letting them compete for my business. Associated stepped up to the plate. I wonder if they'll be upset when I close my checking there? It was already in progress when I got the cards fixed so I can't really change that now.

Yeah as we've seen and I predicted it dropped each time.

I don't care if they ever raise it, it won't likely ever be my "go-to" card anyway. I never promised them it would be just as they never promised me anything. It has its uses. But I don't feel I owe them heavy use (nor will they see it) and I don't expect the limit will ever increase. It is what it is. And I decided based on their customer service alone, the low limit that will never grow is good enough. Where it makes sense to use it, I will, otherwise, I'll go to other things.

Now if they ever decide to offshore their CS, then the card will lose a lot of the value I perceive it to have, and I'd be open to remove it from my collection of cards. Hopefully that never happens, as their CSRs are wonderful in my view.

So, yeah I got this for their great CS, not because I have some delusion it has a snowball's hope in hell of ever growing.

You had an account with a $4k CL and dropped it for a new account with a $2k CL?

Not exactly, but in effect, that's pretty much it.

The good news is like Cap One, I'll never be on pins and needles wondering if I'll get a CLI - I already know that isn't going to happen so there is no stress involved. How can you beat that? :)

I'd agree with you, except for the fact I already know it has no chance to grow and I will likely never get a CLI with it. I know that going in, where before I operated under the insane delusion it had a chance to actually grow if I used it decently and PIF each month. Now I know better. So I decided I don't care, let them keep it at 2k for 10 years just like a Cap One card (except Cap One wouldn't even give 2k) and I'll use it only when it makes sense to use it and the other cards that grow will get most of the swipes, and it is what it is.

It has a place in my wallet, it's just a small place, but a place. I really like their CS. Again if they offshore that, the card would be much less attractive to me and in that case I might dump it. But as long as they keep those guys in place, I'll keep it, tiny limit or no.

I should apply. I have never had one. Don't know my fico score. What do you think I will get from them as a limit?
