6 months of credit history and approved

Postby Busty.St.Clair » Sat Jun 01, 2013 1:25 pm

I had avoided credit for most of my younger years, being able to more than adequately provide for myself without the use of credit. Though, there comes a point in life when it becomes an unavoidable boss one must learn to defeat in order to move to the next level of life or something, akin to fighting bowser if you need a reference.

So, November 2012 I had fed my thin file a Cap One secured with a deposit of $45, making available a $200 CL. Used it for small purchases, kept under the 30% UTI all but once, payed on time every time. 6 months later found my experian had finally appeared and was at 705. I thought maybe I could show my apps to a couple cards and see who drops trout.

Firstly, I tried for an unsecured Cap One, got approved for a classic something or other, with a $500 CL. Then, a Chase Freedom, which is under review. Lastly, I went for Discover It, and was approved but I still don't know the CL until the card arrives apparently.

Overall, I was very surprised to get approved by Discover It, and hope it will lead to the path of other prime cards with better benefits.

With your attitude toward using credit you will go far.

If you call Chase you can probably speed up your app. I got an under review response, waited one day and called the recon line. They asked me a few questions and less than five minutes later I was approved.

Chase: 888-270-2127 (App recon)

Good luck!
Sapphire Reserve: travel & dining
Blue Cash Preferred: groceries & gas
Freedom: 5% cats
Double Cash: everything else

They (Discover) have an online application status page which will tell you the limit. You should check that out. You can also call Discover and simply ask and they will tell you the limit.
