I'd think that with a company that is struggling to keep pace with the other big three, they'd be a little more generous with their CL's. As long as they're stringent on who they offer lines of credit to (managing risk), then it would serve them well to offer higher limits to encourage spending. By granting measly limits, most people (in the know) are likely going to just sock-drawer them.

I asked for a CLI from them 2 times since I became a member in 2007.

I asked for a CLI in 2011, they pulled BOTH Equifax and TransUnion

I asked for another CLI in 2013, but this time they only pulled TransUnion
Junk I use:
AmEx Platinum for Mercedes Benz from, 75k spending ability
AmEx Everyday 8.99% + Prime, 44k CL
Chase Ink Bold, 35k
Chase Freedom (Converted from WaMu VISA) from '07, 5.99% + Prime, 30k CL

Junk I don't use
BoA Susan G. Komen Cash Rewards (converted from World Points MC) from '07, 7.9% Fixed APR, 30k CL
Discover IT (Converted from Discover More) from '08, 5.74% + Prime, 20k CL
AmEx Clear from '07, 4.99% + Prime, 10k CL
All 3 credit scores are over 800.

It's so bizarre to me reading some of these threads as there seems to be little rhyme or reason to the CL they award certain people. For example, I recently (~ 3 days ago) was approved for an $8k limit on a Discover IT card and they pulled EQ. My FICO was a 720 and my largest pre-existing TL was $8k.

I don't understand how I was offered a larger limit than some of the other posters in this thread with higher FICO scores and larger existing CLs?

I've seen other regular posters on this forum echo those sentiments... some of them have $100k+ in TLs with near perfect FICO scores and were offered ~$2k initial CLs. I really don't get it.
My Cards:
Capital One Platinum MasterCard ($500)
Capital One Platinum Visa ($2k)
BofA Visa ($4k)
Citi ThankYou Preferred ($6.5k)
Chase United MileagePlus Club ($8k)
Discover IT ($8k)
