What was your usage like if you don't mind me asking?

Man seeing this stuff tells me Discover really does not like me. I am leaning more towards giving them the quick hook. I've had my card since November and no movement at all I put more than 1700 on mine in my first month and zip zilch nada.

I am probably better off just to not read these and keep my low recurring monthly charge I put on Discover and leave it at that.

Cool story bro.I don't get it. Why not just use the cards that gave you high limits. Maybe Discover won't raise your limit because you already have 35,000+ in credit?

I got a discover more card (now discontinued, but essentially the same exact thing as the discover it card) in the summer of 2008. my original credit line was $2500. they raised it themselves over the years. each increase was between 1000 and 2000. as of march 2013 they moved my CL to 11k.

but i should point out that i spent A LOT on this card in the last 2 years or so. between December and March i spent about 17k with this card alone, did a lot of shopping via discover's website for the 5% and 10% rebates. got around $600 in Shell gas gift cards this year so far.

always paid in full, never missed a payment on any card, or my first car's finance, or my current car lease. 25 years old and had credit cards since 2006.

i see what you are saying, and i see why you would say that. but you are missing the small picture here. sometimes it is better to use 1 specific card over any others in a giver situation. quick example: i bought my brother a high end musical instrument as a birthday present this year. its price was $3100 at guitar center. i used my discover card to pay for it because discover gave me a 10% rebate from that purchase. and in the end i actually got $310 in rewards for it, which translated to about $330 in gas gift cards for me. can any other credit card do that? No.
Junk I use:
AmEx Platinum for Mercedes Benz from, 75k spending ability
AmEx Everyday 8.99% + Prime, 44k CL
Chase Ink Bold, 35k
Chase Freedom (Converted from WaMu VISA) from '07, 5.99% + Prime, 30k CL

Junk I don't use
BoA Susan G. Komen Cash Rewards (converted from World Points MC) from '07, 7.9% Fixed APR, 30k CL
Discover IT (Converted from Discover More) from '08, 5.74% + Prime, 20k CL
AmEx Clear from '07, 4.99% + Prime, 10k CL
All 3 credit scores are over 800.

I already closed it. And that's just what I'll do.

It really seems you just never know where you stand with a creditor until you try, kinda like with chicks I guess. Some wouldn't give you the time of day, others love you and others are kind of like they could take you or leave you. I'm inclined to give my business to the ones that love me back. In my own experience, no matter what you do, the odds greatly say that if they don't like you or are just ok with you, nothing you do is going to change the way they feel. Kind of like at work- once you get hit with the "idiot" label it sticks to you like superglue and you could cure cancer and you'd still be a moron to them.
