That's a shame, they're missing out on swipe fees! The smaller limits are the one thing I don't like about Discover. The first time I got an increase on my More card they insisted on a hard pull. I took it, though. What's your limit sitting at on the miles card versus how much you asked for an increase of? I don't know if Discover is like US Bank, somewhere I read US Bank won't hard pull you if the CLI request is less than $1500 on the online form, and they haven't hard pulled me for asking for $1000 at a time.

I only have a 2k limit. I asked for another 2k. Maybe I should have asked for 1k. I have a card with a 19.8k limit and 20k limit. I don't know what the problem is.

They're crazy sometimes. You'd think they'd want to at least come close to your higher limit cards to remain competitive. Sometimes they're all over the map with who they give really good credit limits too and then are stingy with most of the rest.

My guess is they have an internal system they use, that's all that makes sense (it can't just be random). They apparently rate some of us better than others. I'm not on their luv list so I feel it too.

As I've said, I'm going to give them time and if I see no luv, I will find that I really don't need the card. If they want to go all Cap One on me, that's up to them, and I'll do what I'm going to do as a result. I'm giving them till July that's well over 6 months, to at least bump me up 500 bucks. If they find they just can't do that, well then, I will find I have other cards with higher limits and I really don't need them.

Honestly I think given the current environment where even Cap One is starting to give CLIs they may be just a bit too conservative.

I've had the card for a little over 6 months now and still have a petty limit of 1.5k tried the luv button but they want a hard pull. IT sucks.

So far this is my experience with Discover.
I have been with them for 4 years. Initially they approved me for 5k and in the last 4 years, I took 4 credit line increases and currently at 20k.
None of my credit line increases had a HP.

I have found that Discover will never do a CLI without the HP.
I figured out a strategy and 1st time it worked like luck. I repeated the exact same the next 3 times and everytime it worked like charm.

I bill a lot on my discover. Occasionally..like once an year, I get a BT offer that says, If I accept this BT offer, I will get a temporary CLI for 3k or 4k or 5k...it depends

I would call the customer service and talk to them about the offer I have on my account and request them if I can have a credit line increase.
All I would say them is I am not doing the BT right now but I will be doing it in the near term ..like in the next 3 months.
That's it..All the 4 times in the last 4 years, I did get this BT offer...I took advantage of getting the CLI without the HP.

I just received my 4th CLI in less than a year. My suggestion is put your card to use and treat them well, and they'll do the same in return. I don't do anything special except buy most of what I buy with my IT.
Capital One Platinum $500 (2/2010) CLOSED (1/2013)
Wells Fargo College Cash Back $1.2K (8/2011) CLOSED 3/2015
Chase Freedom (Signature) $10K (4/2012)
AmEx Zync NPSL (4/2012)
Samuels Financing $2.9K CLOSED 4/2015
Discover IT $3.95K (7/2012)
Chase Marriott Premier (Signature) $5K (9/2012)
Chase Slate $2.5K (12/2012)
Citi Simplicity $4K (3/2013)
AmEX BCE $9.5K (5/2014)
Chase Amazon $4.5K (5/2014)
Barclaycard Apple Financing $2K (6/2014)
Capital One VentureOne (Signature) $5K (1/2015)

I received my Discover IT card last week, and am looking forward to building a history with them! Only approved with $1200 but I plan on putting all my expenses through this card, and making regular payments to keep my utilization down.

Based off the responses here, I am anxiously waiting for the 6 month mark to get a CLI!

Same with me. Just got my Discover IT card last week and was given a $1.7k CL. But at the same time, I'm also offered the Chase Freedom Visa with a lower CL. But they are running a $100 for first $500 spent in 3 months, hence would probably use my Chase freedom card as my main credit card.
