Have you been using your discover a lot? The issue may be the fact that you use your other cards, for example the associated one with the 13.5K balance because they are good to you for everything and ring up 7-8k every month on that card and only ring up 500 on the discover. You have to take into consideration as to why they would give you a higher limit if you are not using their card in the first place.

I am guessing that I am in the boat where they like me since they gave me a $1,500 limit with no credit history. I hope that means that they will be more generous with a CLI. Or even give me one without a hard pull.
Discover IT - $5,700
Chase Freedom - $5,700
Costco Citi - $13,000
Sallie Mae - $4,000
Chase Sapphire Preferred - $6,000
Chase Sapphire Reserve - $19,500
Citi Double Cash - $6,500
Amex BCE - $13,000

FICOs: Discover (777), SallieMae (764), Amex (767), Citi (772)
FAKOs: CK- TU (760), EQ (760)

That's what they gave me a year ago- after six months, they automatically upped me to $1800, and just last month, they upped me again to $2300.

Plus, there was this tidbit in the email they sent me:

In the coming months, we will continue to evaluate your account. Then based on your overall credit behavior and Discover card usage, we may continue increasing your credit line.

I did use it a lot at first, but when I realized I wasn't likely to get a CLI anytime soon, I didn't bother with it. And I hope I wouldn't ring up 7 to 8k a month, my gross income is nowhere near that high let alone net, where I really take it in the shorts. (It's the bracket that's about 3 times what the last losing presidential candidate pays...but of course nowhere near his income).

But that aside, yeah, I did run some decent money through it. Now I use it for a small recurring monthly charge. If they want more use, they wouldn't have to up the limit very much, but as it is, I don't expect that, and will probably end up closing it. I do want to give them time though. If I see no movement by July, I see no reason to keep it open, and I'd rather close it and go for something with a limit closer to my other cards.

I've had my discover card for a little over 4 months with a balance of 1200. I'm hoping they give me a CLI after 6 months.

I got an auto CLI after 3 months from $1000 to $1750. I'm really hoping I get another one around 6 months, otherwise I'll just call and take the HP while asking for 2-3x my current limit.
Credit Union Visa: $5000 (4/11)
Discover IT $1750 (10/12)
Chase Freedom $1500 (3/13)
BofA Credit Card: $18.7k (1/02) (Authorized User)
Secured CapOne Visa: $300 (5/12)
Banana Republic Store: $1200 (5/11)
Express Next A-List: $1340 (6/11)

FICOS (as of 3/15/12):
EQ 762
EX 731
TU 747

My Discover was at a limit of 3000 and just now asked for an increase of 1400 just for the hell of it. A month after getting denied for an increase of 2000. Instant approval with only a soft pull. This was through the website CLI button. So now im at 4400 limit, its slightly more than half of my highest limit card, but I'm just happy they gave me something. Still have yet to ever get an auto increase.

Congrats. It's ironic isn't it that Cap One seems to be loosening up while Discover stays pretty stingy on the limits.
There is still a lot of difference granted but I don't think Discover wants to take Cap One's place as being known as the company that gives toy limits and keeps you there forever.

Thanks, 99. Yeah they are pretty stingy with their limits, so I'm thrilled any time I can ever get any kind of boost, and with no inquiries. That's more that I can say for Chase.

Discover wants to do a HP for a cli on my discover miles card. I keep cancelling the request. They keep me from spending more money on their card.
