How to increase Discover credit line?

Postby darkguy2 » Thu Feb 14, 2013 10:12 pm

I still have 5 months to go until I can ask for an credit line increase but how hard is it to get one from Discover?

Is there anything that I can do now that will increase my chances for when I finally request it? What do they look for to make their decision?

They are pretty tough. You can get one with a sp online. They are pretty stingy even when they do an increase. I asked for one online and they stated that they needed to do a hard pull. I declined to do all that.

I am not to worried about a hard pull as I am not going to need to apply for another credit card or loan in the next year. Is there something that I can do to improve my chances?

You just want to make sure that you use the card. It would be useless for you to ask for an increase if you spend like 10 dollars a month and ask for a 5000 limit.

I have been using it for my everyday purchases and paying it off. I also purchased a $1100 computer on it as well. So you can say i have been using it.

Then you should be golden, just keep it up for 6 -12 months and then you can ask for a CLI. It might be possible that they give you an automatic CLI which isn't a hard pull if you keep on using it at the rate you are.
