Postby C.K. » Mon Dec 31, 2012 9:45 pm

Hey guys, I just checked my account profile on Discover's website and I saw a 2% cashback offer for the 1st $250 in purchases (no restrictions) January 1st-15th. Kind of disappointed that Discover didn't send me an e-mail about it but at least I found out about it before the new year kicked off! Double check your account profile and make sure your signed up ASAP.
Discover IT: $2,500 CL
BankAmericard Better Balance Rewards Platinum Plus Visa: $2,000 CL

758 FICO Score from TransUnion at no charge thanks to Discover!

I don't see any 2% bonus, but I happened across this:

I don't know why they're promoting McBarf of all places on their site, it really makes the card look cheap.

Maybe they figure people who use a credit card to buy fast food are more likely to pay interest.

Hmm.. I wasn't aware that McDonald's was considered a restaurant. I wonder if this means all fast food chains get the 5% back. It does say "restaurants like McDonald's."

Technically it's a restaurant, though you probably don't normally think of it that way.

I bet we'd never see Amex have McDonald's on THEIR site, heck I wouldn't expect to see anything less than a place that costs 3 figures for a meal MINIMUM on that site!

Anyway I don't see a 2% signup either anywhere.

McBarf is a quick-service restaurant, as compared with a full-service restaurant. Discover allows bonuses for both, US Bank splits the bonus categories.

Did you ever think Amex would be hawking prepaid cards at Wal-Mart?

Kinda off topic, but I never thought 10 years ago that they would be sending so much of their CS offshore. After all they want that image that they cater to the upper crust clientele.
